When it comes to learning, Spanish games are one of the funnest and quickest ways to learn new vocabulary and pick up the nuances of the language. I mean, who doesn’t love playing games? (I’m not gonna lie: I still miss playing Chutes and Ladders.) Childhood nostalgia aside, if you are finally ready to get serious while also having fun learning, Spanish games should be right up your alley.
Today you’re going to learn about three really sweet games. If you start using one of these games – or any other resources that combine gaming and learning – you are going to be a Spanish-speaking señor or señorita before you know it. Heck, you might even whoop your friends at Spanish Scrabble when all is said and done.
Blast Off!
If you’re looking for a fast-paced, action-packed game than look no further than Vocab Defender by SpanishHour. Vocab Defender is an arcade-style game that helps you learn massive amounts of vocabulary quickly while having loads of fun. Your job is to destroy enemy ships by shooting at the blocks that protect them. You’ll be having so much fun advancing to the next level that you probably won’t even realize you’re learning. Spanish games are pretty awesome like that.
As you make your way through each level, you can earn medals and climb your way up the United Galactic Navy ranks. What’s really awesome is you can tailor each game so that it focuses on specific words and topics. If you’re really set on learning Spanish foods, for example, then customize the game and start battling those alien warships.
Bored? Board Games Aren’t Boring
There was nothing better than sitting down for a fierce game of Mousetrap or Hungry Hungry Hippos as a child. No matter what your age, board games are still a blast. For learning, Spanish games such as Spanish Monopoly is an engaging and fun way to learn – especially if you already know some of the basics of the language.
Probably the best part about playing Monopoly in Spanish is learning the nuances of the money. If you play consistently against a friend, you’ll soon be counting out money like a bank teller in Mexico City.
Can You Handle Even More Fun?
Here’s another fun way to combine learning, Spanish games, and tons of fun. Click here to go check out Rocket Spanish. The software features MegaAudio, which will challenge and educate you at the same time. What could possibly be better? The game shows you six images on the screen as a voice speaks a certain word. Your job – should you choose to accept it- is to match that audio word with the visual image. As you play the game more and more, learning vocabulary becomes as easy as pie.
These are just a few examples of fun games to play when learning Spanish. Do you have other personal favorites? Share them with me in the comments!
